Under the iron rile of their Nazi captors, the Jews of Poland are reduced to a life of starvation, beatings and a complete lack of information. To combat the overwhelming depression and suicide that pervade the ghetto, Jacob Heym (Robin Williams) invents a fictitious radio and passes along news bulletins reporting Allied advances against the Nazi menace. As the ghetto's optimism is reborn and spirits rise, the German war machine presses even harder in an effort to destroy the mythical radio.
