520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. The Israelites in Joshua 1-11 cherished the memory of the action of God which grants Israel a land that is occupied by other nations. To make way for Israel God declared war against the former inhabitants of Canaan. While Israel was called to participate in the war, it was primarily God the "warrior" who fought and consequently won the war. Israel's part consisted of having faith in what God would do and in observing the expressed will of God both in the battles themselves and in their life as a nation.
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. The battles presented in Joshua 1-11 portray Israel to have overwhelmingly prevailed against the inhabitants of the land. The victory was taken as a proof that God has indeed given the land to Israel. Israel therefore claimed that she is the legitimate possessor of the land.
