This study focuses on a sixteenth century manuscript in Tagalog entitled "Declaration de los mandamientos de la ley de Dios" by Juan de Oliver, a Franciscan Missionary who was assigned to the Philippines during the early decades of the Spanish conquest. Translation of the original Tagalog text into English was under taken by Fr. Antonio-Ma. Rosales, the author of the present work. The manuscript under study catechetical writings which bears the title "Declaration de la Doctrina Cristiana en Tagalog. Por N. hem. Fr. Juan de Oliver: Hijo de esta Santa Provincia de S. Gregorio Religiosos Descalzos de N.S.P.S. Francisco en las Islas Filipinas is preserved in the Library, Indiana" This collection is preserve in the Lily Library, Indiana University in Blooming, Indiana, U.S.A. -- cover of the book.
